This is the first season for new injury reporting rules for the Big Ten. The conference requires each team to report injuries each of the three days before the game as well as on gamed day – two hours before kickoff. Players will be designated in one of four manners, “out,” “doubtful,” “questionable,” or “probable.”
Nebraska has scheduled a home and home football series with Louisiana State in 1975 and 1976, Bob Devany NU football coach and athletic director announced. “This series will add a great deal to our fine football program,” said Devany. “We try to play the best possible football each fall, and we want to meet the best possible opponents. We certainly have scheduled a school with great football tradition like Nebraska when we get LSU.”
After three weeks, I’m 24-9 on straight up picks, not taking the spread into account. This week I made some questionable picks in Florida, Iowa, Oklahoma State, and USC.
The Big Ten can be a mad dog that will rip the stuffing right out of you if you aren’t prepared. Say like what Michigan did to the Huskers in 2023, Indiana in 2024 or Iowa last season. What we still don’t know…Is this a Nebraska team that is no longer willing to let that happen?
The Huskers have rushed for over 240 yards in three straight games for the first time since 2014.
“I think the football team we’re playing against is as well coached, disciplined, well playing, and executing of a team that I’ve seen in a while. Coach (Eric) Schmidt has done a great job.” Matt Rhule said earlier this week.
Will we see some of the “ORs” disappear after this game and before the Big Ten season opener? I’m guessing there won’t be any changes over the next couple of games. Perhaps the “ORs” will be something that sticks around most of the season.
Head coach Bob Devaney commented after the game, “Colorado threw the strongest running attack at us that we’ve faced all season.” Devaney was right, as the Buffaloes rushed for 297 yards, almost twice the Cornhusker’s output.
The Huskers will need to get down to business quickly and not let up, because if they let North Dakota hang around, bad things will happen.
“FALL IN!!” …. and find out what hosts Bryan Knutzen, Kenny Cheatham (Husker WR and multi-time national champion), and Matt Sass (recruiting guru), along with the Cob (me), think about the Husker win.
“This is not my first rodeo in terms of hey, I’ve got my ass kicked before like this as a player, as a coach, and we've got to respond from it, and we will,” Bowling Green coach Eddie George said.
This game won’t be about establishing the run or working on the pass. This game will be about spreading the ball around and getting the right guys touches, whether that’s running backs, wide receivers or tight ends.
