Privacy Policy
This policy covers carrikerchronicles.com and the Carriker Chronicles mobile app. It describes what we actually collect, which is not much. We do not sell your personal information, and we have never done so.
What we collect on the website
We only collect information you type into a form, plus basic analytics.
- Newsletter signup. Your email address, and your name if you give one. It is stored with MailerLite, our email provider, and used to send you the newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Football camp interest. The same — email and optional name — kept in a separate MailerLite list so we can tell you when camp registration opens.
- Contact form. Your name, email, the topic you pick, and your message, so we can reply.
- Writer accounts. If you write for the site, we store your account details and set a sign-in cookie that lasts seven days. This is limited to contributors; readers never need an account.
- IP address. Recorded briefly when you submit a form, only to stop the same address from flooding it. It is not used to build a profile of you.
Cookies and analytics
The site sets two kinds of cookie. The sign-in cookie for writers is strictly necessary — without it there is no way to stay logged in — so it is always set for contributors who sign in.
Everything else is Google Analytics, which we use to see which stories people read. It sets cookies that count visits and pages.
If you are visiting from the EU, the UK, or Switzerland, we ask first: Google Analytics does not load at all until you accept it, meaning the script is never added to the page rather than merely being asked to behave. Elsewhere, analytics runs by default and you can turn it off here at any time. Either way, turning it off also deletes the analytics cookies already in this browser:
We do not use advertising cookies, we do not run ad networks, and we do not track you across other websites. Sponsors on this site are direct arrangements — their logos are images we host, not ad tags that watch you.
What the mobile app collects
Less than the website. The app has no accounts and no analytics. Your saved articles, the writers you follow, and any score predictions you make are stored on your device and are not sent to us.
If you turn on notifications, your device gets an anonymous push token that lets us send alerts. It identifies a device, not a person, and it is used only to send notifications you asked for. The app also requests content from this site, from YouTube for video playback, and from ESPN for schedules and scores; those services see the request as any website visit would.
Children
The site and app are meant for a general audience and are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Our football camp is for young athletes, but registration and any information about a camper is handled by a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Who we share it with
Only the services that make the site run: MailerLite for email, Supabase and Vercel for hosting and storage, and Google Analytics if you accepted it. Each receives only what it needs for that job. We may also disclose information where the law requires it. We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from any email using the link in it.
- Decline or withdraw analytics consent using the control above.
- Ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by using the contact form. Depending on where you live you may have a legal right to this; we will honour the request either way.
- Turn off notifications for the app in your device settings.
Changes
If we start collecting something new, we will update this page and the date at the top before it takes effect.
