No. 1 Nebraska extended its dominance with a road sweep of Maryland on Saturday night, winning 25-13, 25-20, 25-15 before a record crowd of 15,127 at the XFINITY Center in College Park. The attendance marked another milestone in the Huskers’ recent impact on the sport. Since 2023, Nebraska has been part of 25 women’s volleyball venue attendance records, including five this season.
Nebraska improved to 15-0 overall and 4-0 in Big Ten play, stretching its regular-season match-winning streak to 46. The Huskers hit .278 as a team while holding Maryland to a .117 attack percentage. They also pushed their road and neutral-site winning streak to 22 matches, tied for 12th all-time in NCAA history and the longest active streak nationally since 2011.
Andi Jackson set the pace with a complete performance: 12 kills on .455 hitting, six service aces, five blocks and four digs. Her six aces tied a rally-scoring era Nebraska program record for a three-set match, matching marks set by Annika Albrecht (2015), Michelle Lynch (2004) and Anna Schrad (2002). Teraya Sigler added eight kills on .429 hitting, along with three digs and two aces. Ryan Hunter and Harper Murray each finished with six kills. Setter Campbell Flynn distributed 35 assists and contributed eight digs, four blocks and two kills, while Olivia Mauch led the defense with 10 digs. Nebraska held clear edges in kills (32-23), digs (34-31) and blocks (8-3).
In the opening set, the teams traded early points before Maryland briefly led 6-5. Nebraska answered with a 6-0 run behind Jackson’s serving, featuring kills from Manaia Ogbechie and Sigler. Laney Choboy’s ace helped push the lead to 20-10, and Jackson later supplied a kill and an ace to reach set point. A Maryland error closed the 25-13 frame. Nebraska totaled 13 kills against three errors; Maryland managed eight kills and six errors.
The second set required a rally. Maryland led 14-12 before Nebraska closed on a 13-6 run. Sigler’s ace capped a 4-0 stretch that put the Huskers ahead 16-14. After Maryland tied the set at 16, Nebraska reeled off seven straight points for a 23-16 advantage. Jackson’s kill created set point, and she finished the 25-20 set with her eighth kill of the night after Maryland scored once more.
Maryland opened the third set with a 4-0 run and led 7-5, but Nebraska responded with six consecutive points, highlighted by three aces and a kill from Jackson, to take an 11-7 lead. Kills from Kenna Cogill and Jackson extended the margin to 17-11. A Jackson kill and Sigler ace made it 20-14. Gabby DiVita entered for Sigler as Nebraska scored four straight points, and Skyler Pierce closed the match with her third kill for the 25-15 set win. Maryland managed only three kills in the frame.
