I need to make a retraction on an article I recently posted titled “ESPN Fires A Shot”. I obviously didn’t do enough research before stating ESPN didn’t cover the UFL. Imagine my embarrassment when I realized not only does ESPN cover the UFL, but they broadcast the games as well.
I used to live on Sport Center, but the last couple of times I tried to catch highlights or scores of the UFL there wasn’t anything. I found it disappointing and jumped to conclusions. In the words of my daughter, “Dad, you are such an assumption maker.”
With egg all over my face I’m retracting the statement I made using the UFL as an example of ESPN’s lack of coverage. However, it’s still my belief ESPN’s ticker removal is based on not diverting viewer’s attention to competitor’s games.
Adam has given me a platform, and he’s told me he doesn’t mind controversial takes as long as I have the data to back it up. Obviously, I failed to fulfill Adam’s expectations in this case.
