Nebraska has secured a commitment from four-star cornerback Bryce Williams of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Western High School. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound defensive back pledged to the Cornhuskers on Saturday, during an official visit to Lincoln. Williams, a consensus four-star recruit, chose Nebraska over a strong list of finalists that included Oklahoma, North Carolina, Clemson, Colorado, and others. He had been trending toward the Huskers for much of the year after initially committing to Florida State. Oklahoma made a late push, hosting him for an official visit the previous weekend, but Nebraska’s consistent recruiting effort, particularly from defensive backs coach Addison Williams, won out. 

The commitment comes as Nebraska continues to build momentum under head coach Matt Rhule. Williams is the latest high-profile addition to the 2027 recruiting class, which now has 13 commitments and ranks between 13th and 25th nationally. He becomes the fifth-highest-ranked prospect in the group and the third player from Florida to join the class. 

Williams brings elite length and physicality to the defensive backfield. At 6-2 with long arms, he projects as a versatile piece who can play boundary corner, field corner, nickel, or even slide down into safety in certain packages. Nebraska’s staff views him as a perfect complement to the program’s developing secondary, including five-star cornerback Danny Odem from the 2026 class. On the field, Williams has produced at a high level. As a junior, he recorded 22 tackles, 12 pass breakups, and one interception in eight games. Over the past two seasons, he has tallied 26 pass breakups and four interceptions total. Scouts praise his ability to disrupt passing lanes and his physical play at the line of scrimmage. Rankings place him among the top cornerbacks in the 2027 cycle: No. 31 CB nationally and No. 25 player in Florida. He reportedly held more than 50 scholarship offers before deciding on Nebraska.

Nebraska’s defensive backs coach, Addison Williams, played a pivotal role by leveraging a relationship dating back to his time at UCF. The Huskers ramped up their pursuit in the spring, with an offer coming in early April while Williams was still committed to Florida State. Williams had visited Nebraska multiple times previously, including for the USC game last fall, which helped solidify the connection. The commitment also signals Nebraska’s growing appeal in the Southeast and that Flobraska is back and better than ever.
