In a significant recruiting win for the Huskers, Nebraska has secured a verbal commitment from three-star EDGE rusher Ma’atoe Moe of Provo (Utah) Timpview High School. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound prospect announced his decision to join the Cornhuskers on Sunday following an official visit to Lincoln, flipping his commitment from Minnesota. 

Moe first drew serious interest from Nebraska this spring. Edge rushers coach Roy Manning evaluated him in early May, leading to a scholarship offer. What followed was a direct recruiting battle between the Golden Gophers and the Huskers. Minnesota had offered Moe back in March and hosted him for an official visit from May 29-31. While still on campus in Minneapolis, Moe initially committed to the Gophers, but he quickly expressed hesitation, wanting to complete his visit to Nebraska before making a final call. The trip to Lincoln proved decisive. Moe was impressed enough by the program, facilities, and coaching staff to flip his commitment to the Big Red. 

This marks Moe’s status as the first Edge commitment in Nebraska’s 2027 recruiting class and the first high school recruiting victory for first-year edge rushers coach Roy Manning since he joined the Huskers’ staff.

Moe missed the first half of his junior season due to eligibility rules but made his presence felt in the final six games, emerging as a dominant force off the edge. At 6-foot-4 and now listed at 245 pounds, he brings a combination of size, length, and athleticism that projects well at the next level. On film, Moe showcases quickness, burst, and closing speed off the edge, along with long arms that can drive offensive tackles backward. He demonstrates solid bend, the ability to stack pass-rush moves, and a high motor that keeps him pursuing plays with relentless effort. 

As a run defender, he stacks and sheds blockers effectively, sets the edge, and shows good instincts in pursuit. Analysts and scouts note that while Moe already possesses a well-rounded skill set as an edge setter with legitimate pass-rush upside, he is still very raw and has plenty of room to grow. Coach Manning has found his marble, now he just has to sculpt it into a Blackshirt.
